Coffee-Rubbed Cowboy Steak
Ingredients
Coffee-Rubbed Cowboy Steak (4 Servings)
- 1 tbsp. ground coffee
- 4 bone-in Angus cowboy steaks, around 12 oz. each
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tbsp. sea salt
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 tsp. sugar
Directions
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Brush the grill grate with olive oil.
Trim the Angus cowboy steaks of their excess fat with a knife.
Use the back of the knife to scrape the bones clean of the connective tissue.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the ground coffee, chili powder, sea salt, garlic powder, fresh ground black pepper, dried thyme, and sugar.
Apply about 1 tsp. of the rub mixture onto each side of the four steaks.
Place the steaks on the preheated grill and grill uncovered.
For rare, grill the steaks for about 3 minutes on each side.
For medium-rare, grill the steaks for about 4 minutes on each side.
Medium temperature steaks call to grill for about 5 minutes on each side.
For medium-well, grill the steaks for about 6 minutes on each side.
For well-done, grill the steaks for about 7 minutes on each side.
Remove the steaks and allow them to rest for at least 5 minutes before serving, the temperature of the steaks should rise another 5 degrees.
