Ingredients
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1 1/2 lb meatballs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 oz fresh parsley, chopped
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
- In a small saucepan, sauté the onion and garlic in a splash of olive oil over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes, oregano, basil, and marinara sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes to build the flavor.
- Spread a thin layer of the marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the meatballs in a single layer, then pour the rest of the sauce evenly over the meatballs.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan and mozzarella cheese for a bubbly, cheesy finish. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes to brown the meatballs and thicken the sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
