Mario’s Italian chili is hearty, with an Italian twist on standard chili. It contains traditional Italian seasonings, pepperoni, and just the right amount of spice.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean Ground Round
  • 1/2 cup White Onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Green Peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Celery Stalks, chopped
  • 1 Garlic Clove, minced
  • 2 cans Red Kidney Beans (19 oz)
  • 1 can Crushed Tomatoes (28 oz)
  • 2 oz Pepperoni, sliced
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Fine Sicilian Sea Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper

Directions

  • Brown ground round in a large frying pan, then drain liquid from the pan.
  • Add onion, green pepper and garlic, cook until soft.
  • In a 5-quart saucepan, combine remaining ingredients, mixing well, and stir in beef and vegetables.
  • Simmer for about 30 minutes.
  • If too thick, add water until desired consistency is achieved.
