Salisbury Steak

Salisbury Steak Ingredients: (4 Servings)

The Steak Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. angus sirloin patties
  • ¼ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp. mustard powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
  • ¼ tsp. sea salt
  • fresh cracked pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

The Mushroom Gravy Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • sea salt, to taste
  • fresh cracked pepper, to taste

Directions:

In a large bowl, mix the Angus sirloin patties, Italian bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, egg, onion powder, mustard powder, garlic salt, sea salt, and crushed black pepper until well combined.

Shape the meat mixture into 4 round patties.

Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and then add the olive oil.

Brown the patties, letting them cook for around 1 minute per side.

Remove the patties from the pan and set aside.

Keep the same pan and left-over patty juices over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced mushrooms and onion and cook until the onions are a golden color, around 5 to 10 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and butter.

Continue cooking for another minute.

Stir in the flour slowly to remove lumps.

Add 1 cup of the beef stock, whisking until all the ingredients are well combined.

Pour in the remaining broth and whisk for another minute.

Season the mushroom gravy with salt and pepper, to taste.

Reduce the heat to medium, continue stirring often, and simmer until the gravy starts to thicken; around 10 minutes.

Add the 4 Salisbury steak patties back into the mushroom gravy and continue to simmer, stirring the gravy around the steaks occasionally.

Continue to simmer until the steak patties are cooked to your desire, around 5 to 10 more minutes.

Serve the steaks topped with the left-over mushroom sauce.

Buon Appetito!
