Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 14 oz fire-roasted diced tomatoes
  • 1 lb spaghetti pasta
  • 1 tsp diced hot cherry pepper spread
  • 14 oz San Marzano tomatoes, drained
  • 7 oz whole shelled baby clams
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Directions

  • Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the garlic for two minutes until it becomes golden; be careful not to burn the garlic.
  • Increase the heat to medium-high and add the tomatoes and cherry pepper spread to the pan. Cook for 10 minutes until the mixture has reduced slightly.
  • Prepare the spaghetti pasta according to the package instructions. Add clams and two tablespoons of reserved clam liquid to the tomato sauce, and heat for one minute.
  • Toss the drained pasta with the sauce, adding a few spoons of pasta water as needed, and combine well. Serve immediately.
