Leccaiai Orviento Classico – Umbria

This light, straw-yellow wine has a varying intensity. The delicate and inviting aroma leads to a dry and light citrus taste, hinting of pear. although the wine has a subtle sweetness, the aftertaste is slightly bitter. When aged 2-3 years, this wine develops considerably more style. This is ideal for appetizers, fish courses, and light meals.

The Umbria region is best known for its white wine production. It contains lush rolling hills, hilltop villages, and iconic historic towns. Surrounded by Tuscany. Marche, and Lazio, it is located within the Italian peninsula. Umbria is the only Italian region without a coastline or international border. With a climate similar to Tuscany, it experiences cold, rainy winters and dry summers with abundant sunshine to ripen wine grapes. Temperatures are moderated by the waters of Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake on the Italian Peninsula.

Vinification: Taking its name from the fortified town of Orvieto, this wine is made with Grechetto, Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes. The “Classico” appellation is given only to Orvieto wine produced in the oldest production zone. Soft-crushed grapes and free-run must are processed at low temperatures. Clarification at controlled temperature (14/15 Celsius). The clean product is filtered and fermented at 16-18 Celsius.
