About the Tuscan Region and the Sangiovese Grape:

When you think of Tuscan wine, think of Sangiovese, the grape typical to most great Tuscan reds. The term “Super Tuscans” originally designated high-quality wines but now applies to any Tuscan wine that does not fall into a DOC classification. The best of them combine modern winemaking with genuine reverence for the grape.

The Sangiovese, Italy’s most planted grape variety, is at the heart of some of the most beloved wines in the country. Grown all over the region, but especially in Central Italy, Sangiovese is the only grape allowed in Chianti.
